Apple has scheduled a second store to open at the same time as the iPhone debut: the Bayshore Town Center store in the north Milwaukee (Wisc.) suburb of Glendale. The Apple store is located in space C24, part of a new $200 million expansion and redevelopment of the mall that resembles Main St. USA. The store will open at 6 p.m., the same moment that iPhones go on sale, and there will be the usual commemorative T-shirts and prize sweepstakes.

Saw the Bayshore store today. The facade was in full view but the glass front was covered in paper. However I was able to sneak a peak through the break in the paper covering: tables were up, genius bar looked complete, all shelves and lighting appears to be in place. All that appears left is a good cleaning to get all that sawdust picked up and the displays themselves. Someone at the info booth said it would open in the fall but I thought she didn’t know what she was talking about. Too bad I was at Bayshore a week early - I knew it was close to opening just by looking at it but not this close.
