The appearance of iPhone window displays at Apple’s retail stores on Friday created a firestorm of Internet postings, along with coverage by newspapers and TV stations. Photos of the oversized iPhones being installed appeared on some sites within minutes, taken by mall or even Apple store employees. But now, as iPhone accessories and other products are delivered to stores during the week, Apple is ramping up security by banning all employees’ personal technology inside the store this week. Employees can hand their cellular phones, iPods, laptops, cameras or camcorders over to the store manager, or simply leave them at home. The ban means there will be no photos of the stockroom, which might indicate the numbers of iPhones and related products being delivered, or any iPhone displays that will go up by this Friday.

Taking pictures of the stock room is an offense that can get you fired at Apple at any time, let alone during iPhone Weekâ„¢. As for iPhones in stock… I’m sure those won’t show up until late Friday morning at the earliest.
I can understand Cameras, but iPods? Funny how the one place you can’t bring an iPod to work is the very place that sells them.
