Construction has begun on the future Mall of Georgia retail store northeast of Atlanta. A generic Simon Corp. barricade has been erected in front of the former Sam Goody space, but with a building permit that clearly identifies Apple as the future tenant. A quick look at the official permit (pdf) shows the space will cover 4,594 s.f. and improvements will cost $1,235,750. The store should open in time for the holiday shopping season.

Wow… 4 within the greater metro area (if you can consider Mall of GA in the metro… it’s a hike). I really wish they’d open one within the Atlantic Station mixed-use lifestyle center in Midtown, though. So much closer to the Georgia Tech and Georgia State campuses as well as all of us in-towners who hate driving to one of the existing stores!
great! looking forward to this store. now i don’t have to drive 45 minutes through traffic to get to an apple store
