Yet another financial analyst had a sit-down with Apple executives, who reiterated that the iPhone would be available only at Apple’s retail stores and AT&T’s own stores–180 of the former and 1,840 of the latter. The hardware and software features of the phone will be just one attraction for buyers. Sr. VP Retail Ron Johnson and Mac Product Marketing Tom Boger told Andy Nef of Bear Stearns that Apple intends to differentiate the iPhone by providing a superior user experience, which begins at the point of sale. Their remarks continue to emphasize the important role that the two sets of retail stores will play in the success of the iPhone. As for addtional stores, Johnson said Apple intends to focus its overseas retail efforts first on those countries with a high installed user base, and then expand to other regions.

I would buy the iPhone in a heartbeat but NEVER with Cingular / AT&T service. And, what has amazed me, is that only one person I know would change to Cingular to get an iPhone.
As to the service level from the AT&T stores, that is truly a joke. I’ve had ocassion to stop into Cingular stores both in Nothern and Southern California and the employees have the worst attitudes I have ever seen.
I question if Apple is aware just how much Cingular is disliked and distrusted.
The only reason that AT&T is the largest is because of the voracious mergers. They are certainly not the best and will, IMHO, drag Apple down to their level. Sad.
It’s a shame that Apple has so little choices of high speed provider (Cingular/AT&T) that they have to get in bed with an old schooler. I will buy an iPhone, but try to avoid AT&T as much as posible.
I think all cell companies suck. What’s the difference, REALLY?
I have had the (old) AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Nextel. None have been “great” by any stretch. So, when I get my iPhone and switch over to at&t, I’m willing to bet i won’t see much diff…
When I get my iPhone, I’ll be switching one of my T-Mo lines over.
