Store Recruiting: Non-Compete Clause?

May 9, 2007

A poster on the tribe.net Web site said he received e-mail from a regional Apple retail recruiter, soliciting candidates for positions at the future Holyoke Mall (Mass.) store. But the e-mail explained to any current Apple or Apple reseller employees, “We respect our companies non-complete claus (sic), and unfortunately and yet respectfully are not able to consider you for these positions.” The e-mail offered that, “As we are networking within this new market we are often not privy to a prospective referrals (sic) current employer.” The e-mail was signed by Brooke Foster and gave an Apple e-mail address, an Austin (Tex.) telephone number and a cellular number. Previously, Apple has hired reseller employees for retail positions, including top manager positions.
