iPod Recycling Going World-Wide

May 2, 2007

In an open letter to stockholders, customers and others, Apple CEO Steve Jobs clarified the company’s environmental programs, declared the company ahead of competitors, and outlined the company’s goals for becoming greener. Among the new progams is the expansion of Apple’s iPod recycling program beyond the U.S. to Apple’s retail stores worldwide. Under the program, those who turn in an iPod receive a 10 percent discount towads the immediate purchase of another iPod. The change will occur this summer, Jobs said, and also include a free-shipping mail-in program. Strangely, the letter referred to the retail stores as numbering “more than 150,” a figure that was reached in June 2006, suggesting the letter was prepared months ago.
