Second Alabama Store Confirmed

March 1, 2007

Apple may have given up on locating a store in Spanish Fort (Ala.), but they will open a store at the Bridge Street Town Centre in Huntsville this fall. The future store was revealed here in June 2006, noting that the mall is part of a huge new, $300 million development that includes residential and office space, scattered around 10 acres of lakes and open spaces. Now Apple has signed a lease and will start fit-out of the store in time for a late summer opening of the new mall.

I wish we’d get an Apple Store on the coast! I thought the Spanish Fort store would be a GO by now. Come on, Steve. Throw us a bone here, huh?

The Huntsville Apple Store may indeed be in the Bridge Street Town Centre mixed-use development currently being built — but it’s interesting to note there is also construction a few miles away from that (on US-72) that shows an architectural rendering of a store with an Apple logo on it’s “Coming Soon” sign. I have a hard time believing that Apple would open 2 Huntsville-area stores so close together and at roughly the same time… [IFO-Check here for additional info.]

While looking through the Apple Web site for job oopportunities in Alabama I saw “Birmingham-The Summit-R225 Alabama 35213″ and “Huntsville-Bridge St-R266 Alabama” entries. This appears to be another confirmation of a Huntsville Store.
