Apple Stores Among Architectural Wonders

February 20, 2007

The public has ranked two Apple stores among the historic architectural icons of the United States, including Carnegie Hall, the Air Force Academy Chapel and Rockerfeller Center. In a poll of over 2,000 adults on behalf of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), pollster Harris Interactive had the respondents rank 78 structures randomly chosen from a list of 248 nominated by AIA members. The Fifth Avenue (NYC) store ranked #53 in the poll, while the SoHo (NYC) store ranked #141. The stores were among the few retail locations included in the poll. However, Fifth Avenue was ranked behind the top-ranked retail location: Wanamaker’s Department Store in Philadelphia, built in 1909. Check the entire list here.
