The first months of the New Year are always quiet for store openings, even as the Retail team continues to work behind the scenes on future stores. The occasional store will open, however, such as the West Quay (Southampton, UK) store, which was originally intended to open before Christmas. Construction scheduling left the opening date for December 23rd, a ridiculous date to open a retail store. Apple is also loathe to open the store amidst the post-Christmas sales, when buyers have less money to spend. So the store is now scheduled for a late-January, early-February grand opening.

Do Apple announce when a store opens or will it just be a surprise?
I need to know the exact date so I can make sure I’m camping outside the night before!
