It's called marketing, the women's boobs in beer ads aren't that big either. I should know, I have to enlarge them.

Removing unsightly poles, signs, electrical and trolly wires is a common practice to improve photos of buildings. The difference in lighting would be because the photo was taken at a different time. Could it be possible that the building (now a vacant lot) was still there when the photo was taken? [ifo-Yes, the building may have been from an early photo.]

First, the titles on the photos page are backwards, After should be first and Before should be second. Strange that Apple took out the tree, but left in the advertising pillar. In all the construction photos, the pillar is in the spot it's at in the photoshopped image, but now it's down the street. That was undoubtedly something apple wanted moved as not to tarnish the look of the store. Also, depending on when the real picture was taken, it took several weeks to finish the BART entrance after the store opened, and while it was being finished, it was covered in black plastic which may be why it's so dark.

I like the fact that Apple magically made the "i" is Virgin that is out in the original photo, red again. If it was CompUsa or (Gasp) Microsoft, that would just photoshop them out. Please note, i don't live in San Francisco and have only been to New York.
