When I was traveling in Istanbul in 2000, I saw a store selling Macintoshes. If I remember correctly, it was in Galatasaray near or on Cadessi Istikial.

The Apple Store in Istanbul is located in the new shopping center Kanyon. The desigh of the center is very unusual and interesting. Very acessable by car, bus or by the new subway that will drop you almost at the door. Both are a must see in Istanbul.

Is this a real Apple Store? As nothing is said about it on Apple’s website. Or is this some company selling Apple computers and calling themselves an apple store? I.e. can I get my Mac Serviced there like any other Apple Store in the world for free (if under warranty)? [IFO-It's an authorized reseller. Warranty service is technically the same, but practically, you may not be able to have some problems fixed because of the reseller's expertise level.]

Did Mark Stephan ever get an answer to his question about whether the Apple store in Istanbul’s “Kanyon” center is a true, authorized, full service Apple Computer Store, like we know from San Francisco, Washington, New York, and London?

Mark and Derek,

I don’t know if you’ve found out the answers to your questions, but I live in Istanbul and have had no trouble getting my iBook and MacBook (both purchased in the States) repaired here. As far as I know, the Kanyon store is an authorized store but I’ve these repaired at a different store called Arti:

http://www.arti.net.tr/

They repaired my logic board on my iBook twice and the hard drive on my Macbook. It took a little time because they had to send away for the parts, but they honored the warranty and I didn’t pay a cent. They were professional and knowledgeable. For smaller issues, I’m sure they would be faster.

Hope that helps!

I have a bad RAM memory slot and was wondering how long you think it would take to get fixed? Does the Apple geniuses speak English? [IFO -- I don't have specific information on the repair capabilities of this Apple reseller, or if they speak English.]
