The San Luis Obispo (Calif.) Architectural Review Commission (ARC) has approved changes to the space at 899 Higuera Street where Apple previously had planned to open a retail store. Copeland Properties, owner of the space and many other downtown properties, has told city officials that their original plans for the space have changed, and that they are shopping the location around to other retailers. During last week’s ARC meeting, the commissioners approved splitting the current space in two, partially bricking-in the sidestreet windows, and making relatively minor changes to the front façade. The Commission’s move seems to end Apple’s immediate entry into the small town of 44,000 near the central coast of the state.
