Largest Beijing Reseller Store Opens

October 31, 2006

As Apple continues to contemplate its own retail plans for China, the authorized reseller Kewei Digital Store has forged ahead with the festive grand opening of a two-story store in east-central Beijing today. According to the Beijing Macintosh Users Group (BeiMac), it’s the largest store in the city of 15 million residents. After performances by a drummer and lion, a large red curtain was pulled to reveal the store, and the large crowd walked across a bridgeway and into the store. The ground floor of the smallish space has displays of Macintosh and iPod products, while the second level has a support center and classroom. The store is located within the unique-designed Jian Wai SoHo complex that combines retail, high-rise living units and offices into a liveable space. Check BeiMac’s coverage of the event (links in blue box at bottom of page).
