Boston Store Update

October 2, 2006

The Boston Business Journal reports that the owner of a building adjacent to Apple’s proposed store on Boylston Street has declined to approve plans to remove a metal fire escape on the side of the building. Apple wants to demolish the existing 815 Boylston Street building and build a new, three-story retail store. However, since the fire escape is on the side of the adjacent building, and is partially supported by the 815 building, the construction plans included removing and relocating the structure…which the adjacent building owner apparently doesn’t want to do.
