Apple Store Comes to Middle America

March 1, 2006

Attention in America’s heartland! Apple will open a retail store at the Village Pointe mall on the far west side of Omaha (Neb.), the first store in the state. The city is the 12th largest metro area in the country without an Apple store, but the future store won’t completely fill in coverage for middle America, being just 130 miles from the Jordan Creek (Iowa) store and 183 miles from the Country Club Plaza (Mo.) store. The mall developer describes the open-air, Main Street-type mall as being in the “prairie” style. Now that Omaha will have a store, Little Rock (Ark.) joins the list of Top 20 metro areas without an Apple store.
