Apple Store Slated for Olympic Games City

January 28, 2006

The 2006 Olympic Winter Games are just two weeks away, so it’s appropriate to announce that Apple will open a retail store in Sapporo (Japan) where the 1972 Winter Games took place. A bookstore has abandoned space in the Maruzen Building near the Mitsukoshi and Parco department stores, and Apple will reportedly occupy the ground floor. The city of 1.8 million is the country’s fifth-largest, and it’s located on the western end of Hokkaido, the northern-most island. It’s the third future store identified for the country, which now has six open Apple stores.
