European Retail Store Initiative Confirmed

January 15, 2006

Chris Braithwaite, a director at British real estate company Cushman & Wakefield, has told “Retail Week” magazine that, “Apple wants to open in the 20 best retail locations in the (UK). It has told us just to get on and find the space.” He said some stores could be flagship stores similar in size to Regent Street. Braithwaite also confirmed an initiative to open retail stores in continental Europe cities in two phases over several years. He said the first phase includes stores in Germany, France, Switzerland and Italy. Braithwaite’s remarks confirm my previous information about future stores in Rome, Berlin, Frankfurt and Paris, and firm up speculation about stores in Switzerland. Phase II stores might include Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium and Scandanavia.
