Japan Store Lucky Bags – 2006

January 1, 2006

The Apple stores in Japan participated in the country’s New Year’s Lucky Bag tradition, selling 200 bags at each store for $340–Apple said the bags contain merchandise worth at least $680. Some of the Lucky Bags contained an extra surprise–an iPod nano! Two hours before opening on Jan. 2 the store staff handed out special buttons to the first 200 persons in line to prevent a POS crunch and line-crashers. The stores also gave out 1,000 maroon-colored, commemorative T-shirts at each store that featured the slogan, “Luck Is In The Air” and graphic design based on the traditional New Year’s chrysanthemum flower.
