Dubious Evidence of Customer Hold-Off for Intel Switch

There’s some dubious evidence from one financial analyst that visitors to Apple resellers are holding off on purchases of computers in anticipation of the switch to Intel processors in 2006. A story on the Forbes magazine Web site says that Pipe Jaffray analyst Gene Munster surveyed what he calls “Apple Computer specialist stores,” which are resellers that derived most of their computer revenue from Apple. Munster wrote to clients that some resellers see evidence of a compuer-buying hold-off, and then continued, “but resellers that are seeing this trend say that it is limited to only a handful of customers.” Gee. Otherwise, his survey showed that Apple is supplying iPods better than analysts expected.
