If you purchase an iPod in an Apple retail store, you’ll be asked for your e-mail address so a “Welcome” message can be sent to you. Perhaps the e-mail address is used for other solicitations, too, but you’re not advised one way or the other when you provide it. Here is the e-mail that you’ll receive, containing links to iPod and iTunes Web pages that are tagged with an unique ID number to track who responds to the e-mail. A link at the bottom allows you to opt out of future e-mailings.
