Genius Bar & Systems To Get Make-Over

November 11, 2005

As mentioned by AppleInsider, the overworked Genius Bars at retail stores and their reservation systems will receive a make-over this Monday, with the debut of Concierge. The program will improve the Web-based method of reserving time at the Genius Bar for repairs and advice, will separate services to expedite repairs, and will be supported by an improved back-end computer system for the Geniuses. The purpose is to cut waiting times, improve satisfaction and make the repair operations more efficient. Specifically, there will be a separation of work, putting short-term repairs at the Genius Bar, and long-term repairs back in the “Genius Room,” whose initial “GR” are cleverly meant to mimic the medical term “ER.” Likewise, reservation times will be split into “Mac” and “iPod” categories, displayed on the LCDs behind the Genius Bar.
