I’ve known about the future store at Crabtree Valley Mall (NC) for about a year, and now it’s finally on-track. Mall management says the Apple store will open during the first half of 2006.

A new Apple Centre has opened in Lisbon (Portugal), the very first in the country. The store opened Oct. 27th and looks very much like others in Europe.

Ouch! A visitor to the Regent Street (London) store found a store crowded with non-buyers checking their e-mail, “cluttered” display tables and an uninformed staff.

More photos of the future Fukuoka (Japan) store show the classic lines of stainless steel, a covered-up back-lit logo on the window-less second floor, and the floor-to-ceiling windows on the third floor. It also shows the store is right next to Starbucks. Check these photos–you can just barely make out the Apple logo before the scaffolding was taken down, and the logo was covered.

Boing, boing! Apple has revealed the location of two more retail store locations, at The Pier at Ceasars in Atlantic City (NJ) and Freehold Raceway Mall (NJ). The former is a completed reconstructed pier adjacent to the existing Caesars Atlantic City hotel and casino, offering upscale shopping, restaurants and attractions to the city’s 34 million annual visitors. The pier opens Spring 2006. The latter is across from the Freehold Raceway horse track south of New York City, with 205 shops and restaurants. It draws way beyond the township’s 31,000 population, and from a very affluent region.

OK, here’s the absolutely last item about “Missed Connections” on Craigslist, and only because it seems to be have been cleverly successful. Guy sees guy in North Michigan Avenue store, uses computer to create an “MC” entry on Craigslist, then goes up to guy and says, “Someone just posted a message about you on Craigslist Missed Connections,” adding that he’s headed over to coffee. Well, read the rest of the story for yourself.

Apple has dipped down the list of metro areas, and has selected Reno (Nev.) for a future retail store, at the under-construction Sierra Summit lifestyle center being developed by Bayer Properties Inc. The town is in the high-Sierra Mountains with a population of 180,000, but the developer claims 570,000 residents within the shopping region, and 5 million tourists a year for gambling and snow skiing. The first phase of an eventual 650,000 square-feet will open in March 2006, which could include the Apple store.

You may recall the protest Web site smashmyipod.com, which has now posted video of its Yorkdale (Canada) store event. It includes Ben Simpson’s purchase of the iPod (cash!), and a pretty hilarious conversation with a Mac Specialist at the register about the warranty. Simpson nervously counts out his cash, takes his change and the iPod. “After weeks of anticipation, I finally have an iPod!” he says to the hidden cameras. And then the in-store mayhem begins. Surf here to select a video link.

On the other side of the world, the Shibuya (Japan) store has been host to musical guests, including an unidentified one in this flickr photo. You can also see the smaller-scale spiral glass staircase at the back of the store.
