The Fukuoka (Japan) store construction continues, and is documented is a series of photos. It appears to be what is now considered “standard” for Japan: a 2-story space on a corner.
The future Gateway (Utah) store is still moving along in tandem with construction on the mall itself, with a likely late November grand opening date.
A grand opening is scheduled for Sept. 24th on Long Island (NY)–but it’s not an Apple store this time. Instead, it’s the 3,000 square-foot Think Different Store that sells iPods and accessories. The 10 a.m. grand opening will feature the giveaway of $1,000 in iPod and Macintosh-related gear. According to their Web site, the store [...]
Ha! Thanks to Ahmad for pointing out a new “Apple store” in Amman (Jordan). In this case, it’s a store that sells cellular phones. Oh–that design!
The Tukwila (Wash.) mini-store is scheduled for a make-over, probably related to the change-out of flooring that’s been done at other stores.
Last year I mentioned the close of the b.Mac reseller chain in Montreal (Canada). Now a tipster says at least one store has re-opened at St. Hubert and Rachel Sts. in near-downtown.
A new Apple Center will open in Barcelona (Spain) in October, part of the Microgestio chain. Meanwhile, there’s a new reseller opening in South Africa, at the Athol Square shopping center in Sandton, a suburb of Johannesburg. The store bears some resemblance (photo right) to a state-side mini-store, which is probably why the store’s Web [...]
Ouch! After much speculation (and hopes), the former bookstore on Walnut Street in Philadelphia does not seem to be a future Apple store site. Tips and other information point to two tenants: Ann Taylor on the left, and H&M on the right.
Apple has announced Super Saturday, Sept. 24th, when three new stores will hold their grand openings: Florida Mall in Orlando, Penn Square in Oklahoma City and South Hills Village in Pittsburgh (Penn.). These openings would put Apple at 124 stores, one short of their stated goal of having 125 open by the end of September.
The AppleInsider Web site reports on retail store sales of the iPod nano, which seem to be slow, and slanted towards the black model instead of white.
The “Australian” newspaper Web site details the on-going bankruptcy actions in connection with Apple reseller Buzzle. The company’s lawyers now intend to claim that Apple was effectively in control of the company, and contributed to its amassing a large amount of debt. Read the details in the story. [In the story, the term "stock" means [...]
The La Cantera (Tex.) retail store will hold its grand opening this Friday at 10 a.m., the same day the mall itself opens.
CNET’s Michelle Myers visited the San Francisco Apple store to sample the buzz on the iPod nano.
Back in mid-August it appeared that the Yorkdale (Canada) store might be expanding into the former shoe store next door. Now a podiatric-tipster says, "Not so."
The standard black plywood has appeared in front of the future Staten Island Mall (NY) store, at the entrance near the Sears store. Brian points out an amazing coincidence–next to the store facing the outside is the “Apple Bank for Savings.” Perhaps the two can cooperate.
Thanks to David for making a wry observation about Apple’s grand opening T-shirts: They have the store name on the front, which is sometimes the name of a city. On the back near the neckline is “Designed by Apple in California.” He quips, “I can state categorically that Annapolis was not designed by Apple in [...]
A new logo has appeared to promote live in-store events–but only on the Japan version of the retail Web page. Some new store photos have appeared in the retail Web page rotation (South Shore & Manhattan Village), although it may depend upon from where geographically you’re surfing.
A network of tipsters points to construction work on the 2-story former Border’s Books store at 1727 Walnut St. in Philadelphia, which was identified here as a potential Apple store site 13 months ago. Now unpainted plywood has been erected and workers are busy with renovations. Tipsters have photos and other intelligence info. [Later, doubts [...]
Quite obviously, any possibility for an Apple store in New Orleans or along the southern coast has been eliminated with the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina. The previous demographic, economic or real estate reasons for not locating a store in New Orleans now seem pretty insignificant. Obviously it will be years before the region’s economy [...]
A MacNewsWorld Web site story is mainly a collection of previous general information about Apple’s retail store initiative. In another article, the Web site notes that Microsoft is looking for some prime Manhattan real estate to open a showcase store. You’ll recall that Microsoft had such a store inside the Metreon shopping center in San [...]
