Apple has also posted the position of Head of Retail Design, which requires some architecture or design credentials.
Thanks to Verio Inc. for doubling my standard disk storage space, prompting me to repeat my offer to post/host your Apple store photos and videos.
Apple has posted an interesting job position: Head of Renovations & Special Projects, which will, "create and oversee a new group dedicated to store renovations, remodels, store replacements and all special projects within existing store base." Based in Cupertino and requiring 40% travel, applicants must be, "energetic, innovative, fun, flexible, humble, dedicated, communicator." Foreign language [...]
Video bloggers held a meeting at the San Francisco (N. Calif.) retail store on Sunday, and one attendee posted some details on the movement.
Apple is recruiting for the future Brent Cross retail store, located in the country’s oldest, large shopping center (1976), in northwest London. It will be the sixth Apple retail store in the UK, and will open before the end of 2005.
One last photo from the Manhattan Village (S. Calif.) store grand opening…actually a quiz.
OK… it’s amusing. The CrazyMacRumors Web site has info on the next level of Apple retail stores–extreme locations, including the earth’s inner core.
Good luck finding the new Mighty Mouse at an Apple store…the very limited supplies were sold out the first day. Looks like there are only 2-3 display models in most stores.
Thanks to Jeremy for the photos of grand opening at the unusual, L-shaped Pentagon City (Virg.) retail store. I especially like the photo of the waiting line in front of the construction barricade next door that says "More Choices Coming Soon. Sony Style." Also check the autographed grand opening sign.
Well, I’ve grown tired of sitting around waiting for news to break, so I’m jumping on a 747 this evening to go scout a new Apple store location. I’ll be traveling without a laptop, but will try to post some information over at the Rants section of the Web site. Eventually I’ll be back here [...]
The library bookshelf that now occupies the left display window at Apple stores includes some startling titles for a major American corporation, covering a wide range of the social sciences. Most companies wouldn’t put the book titles "Homosexuality" or "Hate Groups" in the most visible part of their retail stores–but not Apple. I’ve listed some [...]
State Island Mall Jobs Listed
Job positions have appeared on Apple’s Web site for the future Staten Island Mall (NY), after the store was revealed in mid-May.
Photos of the South Shore (Mass.) and Shibuya (Tokyo) stores reveal a new rear wall design–stainless steel, very similar to the mini-store design. If you look closely at photos, the rear door at South Shore is a duplicate of the mini-store rear doors.
The Palo Alto (N. Calif.) store also received a major make-over: the warped wooden flooring was replaced, the rear theater was removed and replaced with a Studio, the Genius Bar was relocated, and the center software shelving was removed and replaced with counters and shelving for iPods and associated music gear.
The Stanford (N. Calif.) mini-store has experienced a dramatic renovation that improves the store’s appearance and expands the range of products on display. First, the original white, dirt-attracting epoxy floor was removed and replaced with standard gray granite stone. Second, a display counter was installed in the center of the store for iPods and associated [...]
Whoa! Customers arrived up to 4 hours early for the Southpoint (Durham, NC) retail store on ‘tax-free’ shopping day–and some waited over 4 hours to be let into the store. The scene was the state’s annual, 3-day, pre-school event designed to save parents and students money on school-related items. Read the full story from the [...]
The MacWorld Web site has a story about the Shibuya store opening, including a quote from Sr. V-P Retail Ron Johnson: "“Apple is committed to adding stores where we think there is a great market opportunity,” he said. Right now those markets are Japan, North America and the U.K." The store is slanted towards music [...]
Thanks to ‘edolecki’ for this set of photos of the South Shore (Mass.) store grand opening, and to Mark for his collection of photos. It appears to be very wide, with a Studio at the rear of the store, in front of stainless steel walls that resemble the mini-store design. The first purchase was a [...]
Thanks to Asif for pointing out the new iTunes Music Cards selling at the Bluewater (UK) and Regent Street stores for £15 and £25 as part of a pilot project that could soon expand to the other UK stores.
