At the San Francisco (N. Calif.) store, Splendora hosted a scavenger hunt on July 19th as part of the "Friday for Play" events. They gave away 1,000 iTunes songs and several iPod minis during the event. Splendora, a lifestyle and shopping Web site, has posted photos of the event.

The North Michigan Avenue (Chicago) store invites you to a party every Friday night, with pro DJ Jamie Black, who uses his PowerBook and iPods to mix music over the store’s audio system. Ha! The Macintosh Digital Hub Web site notes the Dell laptop user who frequents the the San Francisco (N. Calif.) retail store’s theater to play on-line video poker. The Cult of Mac has noted the woman’s presence on other occasions. Ah, the easy life!
Thanks to John for photos of the Eastview (NY) store grand opening. Also take a look his photo of the new front window display that gives the appearance of a huge bookshelf. Interestingly, bookshelf is visible from the outside and inside. Also thanks to Larry for his collection of photos of the event. He says [...]

A rare Apple retail store window display is now up for grabs on eBay, and jericon plans to use the proceeds to help fund his college education. The 5-foot long piece came from an OS X window display, and represents the folder window menu.

Finally…some movement on the future South Shore Plaza (Mass.) retail store, which started recruiting over a year ago, but was stalled over the 2004 holidays for an unknown reason. Now the project is all hot, and the store should open August 6th.
Tech writer Kevin Schmitt wrote a piece back in 2001 about his first visit to an Apple retail store, finding the mall nearly empty but the Tyson’s Corner (Virg.) store really hopping.
