Tech guru and Mac writer Ted Landau dropped his original edition Cinema Display off the table, breaking off the plastic leg. Now he writes about his attempt to have it replaced at the Bay Street (N. Calif.) Apple retail store, but ending up in a Berkeley gray marketer for a cheaper fix. His tale is as much about Ted as the experience: he knew nothing of Apple’s Genius Bar reservation system, never buys AppleCare coverage, and was admittedly caustic with the Apple store staff. Read his story, and then scroll down for some insightful comments from Web visitors.
