And speaking of the future, the Ala Moana (Hi.) store will get a brah…on Maui. Don’t expect it any time soon, but there are lots of possibilities (Queen Ka’ahumanu Center in Kahului), and plenty of spenders (average HH income is $67,190).
The Tribeca Grand Hotel (NYC) already was a great deal for Mac enthusiasts, with an iPod and Bose Sound Dock loaner program. Now they’ve gone one better with their iStudio guest room that provides a 20-inch iMac G5, iSight, iPod and Bose Sound Dock. You can even book the room as part of the Director’s Cut, [...]
The future Shibuya (Tokyo) retail store location is narrowing down. The latest speculation puts it on Koen-dori just across from the Gap store, up the street from McDonald’s and KFC, and in the midst of giant department stores Parco, Seibu, LoFT and Movida.
If you read English, you know Apple is hiring for two new UK stores–Meadowhall Centre (Sheffield) and Trafford Centre (Manchester), both about 40 miles apart in mid-north island.
If you read enough Japanese Web sites, you’ll come across Apple recruiting employees for two new stores— in Sendai far to the north on the island of Honshu, and in Fukuoka far to the south on the island of Kyushu. With experience, the recruiter says, the salary could be above $2,327 a month, and [...]
Besides other big announcements at today’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference, Steve Jobs mentioned that Apple’s retail stores are hosting over 1 million visitors each week–the last financial statement said the stores hosted 1 million a week during the previous quarter. In fact, he confirmed that he was at the Regent Street (UK) store last Tuesday, and [...]
The Retail video shown by Steve Jobs during yesterday’s WWDC keynote contained some info-gems, including the stores are approaching $4,000 per square-foot in annual sales, a commonly-used measure of retail performance. For comparison, the International Council of Shopping Centers reports that U.S. enclosed malls averaged $366 per square foot for non-anchor tenants during 2004, and [...]
Apple has shuffled a new ‘iPod’ section to the front of its newest stores. Previously, the ‘home’ and ‘pro’ sections occupied the right and left sections respectively at the front. Now the ‘home’ section is on the left, ‘iPod’ is on the right, and then ‘pro’ and ‘music" appear left-right in the next sections. [...]
A sign has gone at the future Manhattan Village (S. Calif.) mall, confirming previous information there eventually will be an Apple store there.
Merritt was #2 in line for the Bridgeport Village (Ore.) store, and has posted photos of the event. Check this collection of photos from the Green Hills (Tenn.) store grand opening.
Thanks to everyone at the Century City (S. Calif.) grand opening who made the event successful. There were just four of us camped out overnight, then another five person arrived around 6:30 a.m. By 8:20 a.m. there were 25 in line, and then the line lengthened. All 500 of the commemorative T-shirts were given out [...]
Herschel was first in line at the Century City (S. Calif.) store, at 9:30 p.m. on Friday. Devin, Drew and I joined him at midnight for the long overnight camp-out on Santa Monica Blvd. But by the time we got onto the property and to the store just after 7 a.m., six other persons had [...]
Tualatin Map Details Store Site
OK, OK– the city of Tualatin’s Web site includes a very complete street map (pdf) of the jurisdiction, showing the city line running along the west and north sides of the Bridgeport Village (Ore.) mall– inside the city line. But mall management now says the mall actually occupies both Tualatin and Tigard, and they elected [...]
The future Green Hills (Tenn.) store is ready for its grand opening, with the front windows covered with brown paper….here’s a glimpse.
Recycle an unwanted iPod at an Apple retail store and you’ll receive 10% off the purchase of any in-stock iPod that day. It’s all part of Apple’s recycling program, which states that none of the hazardous waste is shipped overseas.
However, the irony shouldn’t be lost here…Sorensen is manager of North Star Computers, an Apple reseller in Toronto. Furthermore, two of North Star’s staff were hired by Apple for the Yorkdale store.
Congrats to Allan Sorensen, first in line for the Yorkdale (Toronto) grand opening, as documented in a Toronto Star newspaper story. He arrived four days early equipped with a pillow, and took naps on mall café tables, then relocated to a gas station at night. Sorensen’s explanation for the long camp-out? I haven’t heard it [...]
Residents say there’s still no sign of Apple store activity at or near the Flatiron Building (NYC), even though Apple has been advertising jobs for the location since early March.
The AppleInsider Web site reports the lease is signed for the future Providence Mall (RI), where Apple has been waiting over two years for an appropriate space.
