Je suis étonné! The Montreal-based b.mac Apple reseller that closed its four branches last November now seems to be accepting resumés for a store to be located in the upscale, Le Plateau Mont-Royal section of Montreal.

Construction on the future Annapolis (Md.) retail store continues behind a barricade. The space is at a very visible corner location. Inside, early construction is underway, which means the store could be open within the next two months. read more…

The future Pioneer Place (Oreg.) store is nearly finished, according to passersby. Located across from the Gap store on the concourse level, it’s on the way to the food court, which is always a prime spot. It appears to be a standard 30-foot store, and the interior is nearly finished–except for the tables.

Mondo-Arc magazine includes a fairly technical article on the lighting design and construction of the Regent Street (London) store. It describes the faux skylight, which uses cold-cathode tubes to create the simulated daylight.

The turn-out for the Woodland (Mich.) retail store grand opening was fantastic, and featured unique grand unveiling (right) of the back-lit Apple logo above the door at 9 a.m.–thanks powerbooktrance for the photo. You can find lots of other photos on the Flickr Web site (#1 #2 #3 #4). Also read the Grand Rapids Press newspaper account of some early-arrivers. The store is arranged to have the ‘home’ and ‘pro’ sections at the front of the store, in contrast with the just-opened Century City (S. Calif.) store, which has ‘home’ and ‘iPod’ sections at the front.

Apple has now posted actual job positions for the future Brea, Staten Island, Burlington, Thousand Oaks, and Sheffield retail stores. Previously, just the locations were listed on-line.

The future Manhattan Village (S. Calif.) store will be a tad narrow–22-feet by my calculation– but it won’t skimp on its Ethernet network. This store, just like all the existing stores, uses Category 6, Gigabit Ethernet cabling to link all the computers and server together. Here are some behind-the-scenes photos of the half-finished store as provided by a tipster.

A "Grand Rapids Press" newspaper story previews the Woodland (Mich.) retail store grand opening on Saturday, with mall management saying they’ll open the doors at 7 a.m. for the waiting Mac enthusiasts to enter the mall.
