Best Buy announced it will open test stores in China within 12 to 18 months, and increased its forecast of future stores in the U.S. from 1,000 to 1,200 (it now has 848 stores). In a similar move, last week clothing retailer Gap said it will consider retail opening China outlets during 2006. Wal-Mart continues to be the largest foreign retailer in China, with 39 stores.
