Grand Opening Report: Devin was first in line at the Santa Rosa Plaza (N. Calif.) store at 6 a.m., while Thomas was first at the Stanford (N. Calif.) store at 5:30 a.m. Meanwhile, up at the Southcenter (Wash.) store, rain was falling when Mary Ann arrived at 5:58 a.m. to be first in line. A sympathetic security guard let her into the mall early to avoid the rain. All the stores were initially covered with black paper that has white letters on it, "Apple.com, Opening Soon," underneath a white Apple logo. The paper was removed at Stanford at about 7 a.m. Stanchions are up at Santa Rosa and Stanford for the expected waiting line.
