The mini-stores were officially unveiled during a satellite-televised press event at the Stanford (N. Calif.) store, with Steve Jobs standing in front of a giant black curtain, which swept back to reveal the new design. Presumably the video was fed to the retail stores and other company locations. Ironically, only two photos of the event, and no video, has been posted on the Web. Most national stories about the press event focused on the angle, "Steve is back," rather than on the new store he was introducing. Even the very-local Mercury-News newspaper put Jobs’ health as the lead of its story. MacCentral posted an account of the mini-store press event, which included Steve Jobs’ first appearance since his surgery.
