Thanks to Aaron, who somehow managed to squeeze information from me, and massaged it into an interview.

The Boston Globe notes the popularity of the new iMac G5 at the Cambridgeside (Mass.) store, and that it’s generating 50-75 telephone calls a day just to determine if the store has the new computer model.

It’s pretty much official–several stores scheduled to open this weekend have been delayed for an unspecified reason, but probably related to final design decisions rather than construction problems.

The Country Club Plaza (Mo.) store facade is now completed, with stainless steel and back-lit Apple logo. The front windows are covered with brown paper in preparation for the grand opening.

Ouch! "Super Saturday" seems to have turned into "Duo Day" for the Apple retail stores. I’ll at least be at Stonestown this Saturday for the grand opening of one-half of the new Apple stores.

The Mac News Network Web site explains why B.Mac in Montreal is shutting down three of its four stores–"poor worldwide Mac sales and a low percentage of the overall PC market."

My confusion over Apple’s mini-store plans may be spreading: The original tip described the stores as much smaller than the then-standard 3,000 and 4,000 square-foot prototypes, and completely different in design. So far, the only store that I know that qualifies is the Santa Rosa Plaza (N. Calif.) store. The current crop of stores that are under 1,500 s.f. range have the standard retail design, and so qualify only as small stores, not official mini-stores. So now Apple has large (flagship) stores with up to 20,000 square-feet, medium with 3,000 to 6,000 s.f., small with around 1,500 s.f. and mini of 300 to 500 s.f.

Leander Kaheny writes on Wired.com that Apple’s San Francisco store has been “nightclub full” the last few weeks, and that people have been e-mailing him with reports that Genius Bar reservations are hard to come by. In fact, I was at SF myself on Saturday for Mac/Lisa guru Bill Atkinson’s presentation about his new book, and counted 120 persons on the ground floor alone.

Thanks to Scott for the latest photo of the Country Club Plaza (Mo.) retail store, located in an old, historic, brick building that’s part of a long-time shopping district of the city.

A tipster says the interior of the Regent Street (London) store is still pretty much empty, with only basic construction work going on inside–nothing Apple-specific was seen. But the scheduling of Apple Expo during Nov. 18-20 may not be a coincidence, since it coincides with my previous information of a Nov. 20th grand opening. Thanks to Joe for the latest photo of the building where the Apple store will be located.

I’m receiving mixed messages on the future of stores in the UK: Apple is definitely opening a London store, will soon begin recruiting employees for a Birmingham store, and is looking for a proper space in Manchester. However, I’m also hearing that Apple is cautious about opening stores beyond London, and wants to gain some experience from the Regent Street store before deciding to go forward with additional stores.
