The Crossroads Mall in Boulder (Colo.) has suffered through a long, agonizing decline since open around 1963 on the city’s east side, not far from the University of Colorado. The mall’s multiple property owners have complicated any plans to upgrade the property. But late last year The Macerich Company finally struck agreements between the owners, and came up with a bold design: a Main Street-type project named "29th Street." The project has weathered the city’s approval process, and now Macerich is soliciting tenants for the project with a letter that proclaims–Apple has signed on! The development has a long way to go before its Spring 2006 opening, so Cherry Creek and Aspen Grove are still the Denver hot spots for now.
