The “Studio” concept for retail stores is taking shape, as defined by the Shadyside (Pittsburgh) store’s Web page. First, Apple has hired 2 full-time and 2 part-time “Creatives” to give classes and help visitors with software and projects. Second, they’ll offer hands-on, interactive, fee-based training on “Getting Started,” Photoshop, Motion and Final Cut Pro-HD. The training is broken down into either two or three sessions lasting 2 or 3 hours, and priced at $99 per session. You can take one or more of the sessions per topic, which all start at 9 a.m. Thirdly, the store will offer an “Open Studio” session from noon to 6/7/8 p.m., during which the Creatives will help walk-up customers with creative projects–the tag line is “Just step up and ask.” During this time, Creatives will focus on how to create beautiful photo albums, design slick letterheads, make Hollywood-style movies, retouch photos, compose music, “or whatever you want to learn about.”
