Thanks to MacMinute for noticing that Apple’s Web site now has a "UK retail" sub-directory, which leads to a job recruiting page listing Mac Genius, Inventory Specialist, Mac Specialist and "management" positions. The recruiting is being done by two third-party human resources companies, and in typically British fashion, the page urges you to send your "CV" to the company. In this case, "CV" refers to "curriculum vitae," another way of saying "resumé." The pages features photos and quotes from some familiar "back-home" Apple employees in the San Francisco Bay Area. No job listings have been posted yet on Apple’s main "Jobs" Web page.
The UK job listing page mentions the store will open "Autumn 2004." Is it me, or is "autumn" a particularly British term? I’ve been saying "Fall 2004" and it seems to sound right.
The UK job listings refer to two third-party hiring companies. If you search the referenced Hudson Resourcing Web site, you’ll find a job listing that looking suspiciously like an Apple listing for store manager. The listing states, "You will be the sort of manager who drives friends crazy with your passion for product, thinks differently and loves the latest technology. Above all, you will make your store a fun, exciting and fresh place to be for your customer." The job salary is £30,000 to £35,000 a year, which right now translates to about US$53,940 to $62,930 a year.
