Sooner, Not Later
Kudos to the demolition crew that braved the cold weather and the scrutiny of the Webcam to get the space cleared off! They should come by the waiting line before the store opens and say "Hello!" Now that the building has been demolished, a reminder that the Back Bay Architectural Commission is requiring Apple to begin construction "immediately thereafter." So hopefully we won't have the same view to look at for very long!

I have yet to get down there are view the construction site in detail but by the looks of the current views there are several interesting aspects that are brought up:
1. The basement depth doesn't appear to be to be all that high. I assume Apple's architects, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson (BCJ) have planned some parking for staff, the question is could some of this happen at the lower basement level?
2. The finish surface after demo appears to be concrete slabs. Back Bay is built -- famously -- on land fill and thus there should be dozens and dozens of wood piles under this concrete surface. It will be interesting to see how new foundational requirements are integrated into the existing.
3. It looks like the basement excavation works out beyond the sidewalk. It will be interesting to see if this space is utilized.
