Apple Headquarters Like Apple Stores

In Fall 2013 various renderings of Apple’s new Cupertino (Calif.) headquarters campus were released in connection with permit applications. Besides the remarkable circular office building, there are various structures designed by Foster + Partners, who also designed the latest prototype (model) of Apple’s stores—Stanford 2 (Calif.), Pioneer Square 2 (Ore.), Aix-en-Provence, France).

The campus will include a 350-seat auditorium that will be used for various events, including new product releases and press conferences. The auditorium is underground, and is accessed through a stairway covered by a circular glass pavilion that shares several elements with the retail stores: glass windows without vertical supports, thin roof and stainless steel trim.

The employee recreation center has an even greater resemblance to the latest Apple store design, first seen at the Stanford 2 (N. Calif.) store. The glass box enclosure, thin floating roof and thick stone walls are nearly identical, as well as the tone and colors.
