Apple’s continuing preference for international locations for new retail stores is further confirmed by their decision to open a store at the Väla Centrum shopping mall about eight miles northeast of city center Helsingborg (Sweden). The Scandinavian country is the latest to host Apple stores, with locations in Malmö and Täby that opened in late 2012. Now, recent visitors to Väl Centrum report a black construction barricade has appeared in front of a 60-foot wide space, and work is underway inside. The mall has 190 retailers and restaurants in 546,000 square-feet, making it the fourth-largest in the country. The coastal city has about 100,000 residents and is near the southern tip of the country, at its closest point to Denmark. Based on construction schedules, the store could open in early 2014.
Thanks to Lars for identifying the store location and for sharing the photo of the store space.
