Retail Business Team Web Pages Updated

Apple has updated its Web pages devoted to retail store Business Teams, putting a sharper focus on the available services, including events, briefings and purchase financing options. The timing of the revision indicates its a routine refresh, but also one that takes into account an increasing focus on business-related customers. Both pages are still headed by category buttons for “Dedicated to Business” and “Joint Venture.” Under the former category page, the previous Web page had two photos showing helpful Business Specialists in black polo shirts, with a headline, “We’re ready to team up with you.” The new Web page has three photos of specialists in action, with call-to-action headings: “Come in for events,” “Schedule a Briefing,” “Choose from flexible purchasing options,” and “Get support that goes beyond the basics.” The Joint Venture category Web page has been rearranged, but its headings and content remain largely unchanged.The stores that opened in 2001 were created simply for consumers, reflecting Apple’s overall philosophy that ignored businesses. But by 2003 then-Sr. VP Retail Ron Johnson realized the potential for business sales at the stores, and created the position of Business Specialist. Store emphasis on business sales blew hot and cold until 2010, when several new stores were constructed with Briefing Rooms for business sales. In 2011 Apple created the Joint Venture, fee-based service to offer increased product support for businesses.
