Delaware Store in Temp Space, Expansion Underway

August 13, 2012

The Christiana Mall (Del.) Apple store is being expanded for the second time, and this time possibly to counteract the future arrival of a Microsoft store just four spaces away. The new location will give Apple over 10,000 square feet of space for retail and back-of-house operations along a busy mall corridor. The store opened in October 2004 with about 3,400 square-feet. In early 2010 construction work started on a larger, replacement store in space 1370, and the grand re-opening was held in June 2010. Now Apple has moved retail operations to a temporary store in space 1845 facing the outside of the mall while expansion construction is underway. Microsoft has announced they will open a 5,000 square-foot retail store in space 1310, possibly by year’s end. The two stores would be about 225 feet apart, door-to-door. Based on construction schedules, the expanded Apple store will re-open before Thanksgiving.

The existing store has closed and moved to space #1845 while the store is expanded. This will be the second expansion for Apple in the Christiana Mall.
