The state of Tennessee has reportedly won a ticket in Apple’s 2012 retail store lottery, with the selection of the Cool Springs Galleria for a store south of Nashville. Apple executives have said the company will open about 40 stores during fiscal 2012, with only about 10 lucky locations within the United States. According to the Cool Springs News, tipsters say that existing tenant Abercrombie will vacate space #1585 within a week. Mall manager CBL & Associates Properties Inc. reportedly declined to renew Abercrombie’s lease, opting to bring Apple to the mall. By April, construction will begin on installing an Apple store within the 8,208 square-foot space. The store, sporting an 47-foot wide storefront and a wider interior, could open by September. The mall sits alongside Interstate 65, and within an upscale region at the top end of Apple’s usual average household income demographic—over $114,000.

A future Apple store will occupy space #1585, including a portion of the former Abercrombie store space, giving the Apple 8,208 s.f. total. The storefront will be 47 feet wide, but deeper into the store the width is 83 feet. The store is 115 feet deep.

Well, goodie for Nashville.
I guess we here in Oklaunion, Texas, will just have to wait for next year’s lottery =:~(
Bummer.
Apple is taking over BOTH Abercrombie and Brooks Brothers for a total of 13,000 sf. It will be one huge Apple Store!
So I wonder what is going to happen to the independent store that is (was?) in the mall, called MacAuthority?
Just got an email that they shut down their CoolSprings location tonight, remaining with four (two in Nashville, plus Chattanooga and Louisville), and will be opening new stores in Johnson City and Winston-Salem.
I can assure everyone we can provide a 13,000 sf store far cheaper in Oklaunion than TN.
Well it is now confirmed that Apple is hiring new managers, Geniuses, and Creatives for the new store. My friend just got hired and will be going to Cupertino in a few weeks for training.
Estimated opening date? June 1?
Actually, Apple is not even taking over the full A&F space. A&F was 9316 square feet, and the new lease plan shows Apple occupying a majority of the space, at 8202 square feet.
Thanks for the clarification of how the expansion will work—taking over part of the Abercrombie space. I’ve updated the mall plan graphic and revised the caption to indicate the dimensions of the space.
