As China’s most populous city, it’s not surprising that Apple is opening a third store in Shanghai this Friday on two levels of the new Henderson Metropolitan building on East Nanjing Road. The building is located along a major retail street in central city, and has five lower floors of retail space, and 17 floors of offices on upper floors. Apple’s retail store will span a corner ground-floor space and an upper level. Three additional levels will reportedly house Apple training rooms, meeting spaces and administrative offices. The Shanghai region has a population of 27 million, has the country’s busiest shipping container port and is considered a major financial center. Apple opened its first store in Shanghai just 14 months ago, and after this grand opening there will be five stores in the country between Shanghai and Beijing. Another four locations have been rumored for China, although Apple has previously said they will have 25 stores open by the end of 2012.
