New Store Will Keep California In Top Spot

July 12, 2011

The first of two expected new stores in southern California will open this Saturday at the Valencia Town Center shopping mall north of Los Angeles. It will be the 49th store for the state, which leads the chain in stores. Texas, Florida and New York are the next most popular states for Apple, with 17, 16 and 15 stores respectively. The mall is close to Interstate 5, the major north-south highway linking the state, and to Six Flags Magic Mountain, an enormous theme park that draws visitors from a wide region. Apple is expected to open a second store in southern California later this year, at The Americana at Brand mall. It will be a sister store to the existing Glendale location, the second store to open in the chain. The front doors of the two stores will be just 600 feet from each other. Saturday’s grand opening will be at 10 a.m.

I’m confused. How is the opening of this new store “pushing California to the top spot” You mentioned this is the 49th store in the state, while TX, NY & FL has 17, 16, and 15, respectively. Where was the contention and/or moment in which the opening of this store pushed Cali “to the top spot”?

Ahhh. I’ll lift the curtain a little: After composing the story, I was actually intending to revise the headline. However, I pressed the “Publish” button instead of “Save Draft.” Once it’s published, it’s automatically Tweeted. Since the headline is part of the URL, changing the headline after-the-fact gets a little dicey. So I’ve left it for now.

Oh Ok. I understand. I see where that can become confusing and tricky. But besides that, great info

OK. I’ve edited the headline and done some server magic so Twitter links don’t get broken. Thanks!
