Mini-Store Moving Day Is Saturday

October 12, 2010

Visitors to the St. Louis Galleria (Mo.) Apple store this Saturday will find a new space at a new location, offering about four times the display and service area of the mini-store that opened at the mall in 2004. The new store is part of an on-going project to convert the original nine mini-stores to full-size stores, and a wider plan to construct larger stores to accommodate more visitors. In fact, company officials have described this new location as the largest mall-based store in the chain, about 6,000 square-feet. Insiders say Apple will also occupy the kiosk in front of the store formerly occupied Starbucks. It’s not clear if that space will also be revealed on Saturday. In a Tuesday e-mail to area Apple customers, the company said a traditional grand opening will be held at 10 a.m., and will include 1,000 commemorative T-shirts for visitors.

Anyone wanna make bets on which store will be the last to be converted? I’d put mine on Stanford or Santa Rosa

So excited by this – live just about 2 miles away… been complaining for years about the size of the old store and when I was there last week, I practically had to use a shoe horn to get to the back of the store to get a new cable. Hurray!

Might just drag my fanny over there Saturday to check it out.

and by the way, that starbucks kiosk is always packed! It needs to be moved somewhere anyway – interesting to see how Apple will use that space.

It’s opening day and the front kiosks are bare & vacant with some spackle still on the columns from where the starbucks was removed. Good spot for some seating. Store looks good, St. Louis needed the space and recognition.

Beautiful new store! Went by to get a shirt and to see the greatness. The employees were very happy and kept telling us that the new store was for us (I think they’re happy to have a much larger space!). Who knows, maybe I’ll submit my resume now and work there part time. The old store sure put me off it was always so crowded!
