The Apple store territory in England will push further north when the Eldon Square (Newcastle on Tyne) store holds its grand opening next year. The future location continues the company’s stated goal of having a store within the center of every major city in the UK. In this case, the Apple store will be on the second level of a 20-shop, 175,000 square-foot expansion of the main mall. When it opens, the store will be the furthest-north store in England. The mall–and the Apple store—should open in April 2010.
Watch a video walk-through of the mall, with the future Apple store on the right just beyond the River Island store.

Hurrah! At last!
You have highlighted the from of the New Look store, which is NOT where the Apple store is going to be located. If you look at the map you can see the New Look Store, then River Island (which can also just be seen in the photo). Therefore the Apple Store is NOT in the photo, it is actually out of shot to the right of the photographer (I know it is a mock up image not a real photo).
If you watch the flyby video you will see that River Island is actually shown as double the size that it is on the map. Therefore they have excluded the Apple Store from the flyby. In the flyby it will be located between the Dorothy Perkins and River Island stores, taking up the first sections that is allocated to River Island.
A new Apple Store is always a good news.
How does “northernmost” sound?
Aha, finally.. trapsing up to glasgow whenever my stuff needs TLC was starting to get tiring… (both for me and my parents having to put up with me while i was there!)
Great news – I live 2 mins walk from this site. I thought they had forgotten about us in the North East. The only thing I am curious about is that currently shops in Eldon Square all close at 5.30 or 6pm Mon-Fri whereas I have noticed that Apple Stores in other locations all stay open to at least 8pm. That’s why I thought they would probably put the store in the Metrocentre instead of Eldon Square. I wonder if they will have some way of getting to the store after the mall has closed.
Don’t worry Shaun, Eldon Square usually shuts late now in anyway.
But it’s good news it’s finally here, now we just need a few more big names.
