May 13, 2008

The Web pages for individual retail stores have been given a complete facelift that includes a sustantially-sized photo of the store, and redesigned calendar of events that isn’t based on a separate URL. Surf the redesigned store list Web page to find the link to your favorite store.

The layout looks real nice.

But, the Las Vegas Fashion show has the wrong store pictured.

Still very disappointing that sites like Facebook, Google, AccuWeather, the AP, and many more can create iPhone optimized pages, but not Apple. What if I’m out and I need to call my local store to see if they have a _____? I need to load the whole regular page with frankly some useless graphics just so can call them up. Take the picture off, take off the other little images at the bottom, and make an iPhone page that has store info and Genius Bar reservations easy and quick to access.

Wow, the picture of the Century City store in Los Angeles must be from when the store first opened — in the window is a display of the 1st Gen Shuffle.

Nice improvements. I agree that they need to make an iPhone optimized version. One thing that I noticed is that the page for Knox Steet shows a photo that shows stains on the building and what looks like a power line in front of the store. Normally, Apple fixes those “flaws” to make the store look better — sort of what they did with Apple Store San Francisco. SF has cables running in front of it but Apple photoshoped those cables out and applied some nice lighting effects.
