As residents of Melbourne (Australia) wait for the street-level store that was depicted in architectural drawings last February, another Apple logo has appeared at the suburban Chadstone Shopping Centre, about eight miles southeast of city center. A white construction barricade has appeared on the ground-floor next to Nike Women with the notation, “Apple – Coming Soon” in black letters. The mall is one of the country’s oldest, and among the largest in the southern hemisphere. It recently underwent an $88 million renovation for its 450 stores and restaurants, and that may have attracted Apple. Interestingly, an Apple Centre reseller is downstairs and not far from this space, operated by Computers Now, but they’ve told visitors they are not moving. Thanks to Jedda for photos of the space.

Sounds/looks suspicious…
Um, Melbourne is in Victoria — a state in south-eastern Australia, not Western or west Australia. Check your facts. [IFO -- I knew that....]
This is great news for Apple fans down under.
Be this an honest to goodness Apple Store or another reseller Apple is growing the brand in Australia.
So I see this as something positive.
FAKE! I live and work near Chadstone. The actual store front reads “Exciting new retail store coming soon”. PHOTOSHOP!
“Exciting new retail store opening soon” – even… I’d post pix but to be honest I’m just amazed this got on the net. The original forum post has heaps of pics that just look fake as.
You guys claiming fake really need to look closer.
The Apple text was up for one day, and then replaced with the "Exiting New Retailer". Next time you are there, check out the door. You can still make out the adhesive from where the Apple text was.
