Black Friday Bonanza

November 15, 2006

There are scattered reports from shopping malls that Apple’s retail stores will offer special pricing on so-called Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving that traditionally signals the start of the holiday shopping season. Last year Apple discounted iMac G5s and iBooks by $101, took $30 of a .Mac account, $11 off a Mighty Mouse, $31 off an Airport Express, and $51 off an iSight camera. The Christiana Mall (Newark, Del.), where Apple has a store, will open at 3 a.m. to kick off the no-sales tax season. Major retailers like Circuit City and Comp-USA will open as early as 5 a.m. for three to six-hour special pricing, as documented on the “Black Friday Ads” Web site.
